In this work, we experimentally study the resonance and propagation of sound waves in a PVC tube with the help of a computer- assisted experimental technique. This experiment uses a Microcomputer- Based Laboratory procedure to calculate the sound speed of sound in air, and resonance frequencies in a guide medium to verify the theory. This project used an ultrasonic sensor to evaluate sound speed with the aid of the Arduino. The value was noted to be 342.2 m/s which is almost equal to the theoretical value of 343.4 m/s at the temperature of 20°C. In addition to this, the study aimed to examine the resonance and sound wave attenuation and determine the conditions in which standing waves are set up in closed PVC tubes. The results reveal the insight of parameters that affect resonance. It includes tube length and form. It also shows the rightfulness of suppositions which explains sound movement.
