In the present era, the manufacturing sector is experiencing two distinct revolutions. Industry 4.0 emphasizes machine autonomy, digitization, and problem-solving without human intervention. On the other hand, industry 5.0 represents a paradigm shift that goes beyond productivity and efficiency, focusing on reintegrating humans into the production process and recognizing their value. To remain competitive, companies must keep up with these trends and advancements. Initially, they faced challenges in adapting to the automation level of industry 4.0, but now they must embrace the new era to enhance their performance. Consequently, it is crucial to assess the maturity level of the industry in order to establish a roadmap for implementing industry 5.0. This paper conducts an exploratory literature review of 106 research papers, selected from a pool of 181 publications obtained from Scopus and Web of Science databases and analyzed in NVIVO. The study occurs qualitative research by analyzing word usage through word cloud, delve into connections between those words in particular subjects and examine existing maturity models. This study guided us towards a focal point where the intersection of Industry 5.0 and manufacturing maturity models promises rich opportunities for investigation and contribution.
