Experimental analysis of a hybrid PVT collector: Influence of key parameters on thermal and electrical performance in the Moroccan Sahara

Abstract

This work experimentally investigates the thermal and electrical performance of a hybrid photovoltaic–thermal (PVT) collector by varying several operating conditions. A dedicated experimental setup, designed from Moroccan Sahara climatic data and tailored for domestic use, enables precise adjustment of panel tilt and orientation, type of glazing, working fluid flow rate, and inlet temperature under real outdoor conditions. The effects of these parameters on global system efficiency are measured and benchmarked against existing PVT designs in North Africa. Findings serve as a foundation for improving solar energy exploitation in the region and for formulating context-specific approaches to boost hybrid PVT system performance.
