Evaluation of Moroccan Primary Arabic Textbooks

Abstract

Vocabulary is the fundamental element of any linguistic corpus, directly reflecting the language used in a given context. A corpus must be representative of the language it aims to model. A diverse and rich vocabulary contributes to the quality of language models. School textbooks are a valuable source for creating corpora, as they offer a glimpse into the language taught, the topics covered, and the target language level. Analysing the vocabulary in these textbooks can help identify both the strengths and weaknesses in teaching materials and develop new language learning tools. This study aims to evaluate Moroccan primary Arabic textbooks, compiled in the MoSAR (Modern Standard Arabic Readability) corpus, and to utilize the various versions of this corpus to create an enhanced and optimized version.
