Enteric fistulization of a common iliac vein aneurysm

Abstract

• Iliac vein aneurysm is rare. • It occurs after trauma or surgery. • Veno-enteric fistula is a rare complication of iliac vein aneurysm. • Veno-enteric fistula can be responsible for gastrointestinal bleeding . • Surgical treatment consists of aneurysmectomy , venorrhaphy, and intestinal resection . Iliac vein aneurysm is rare. Its complications include rupture, thromboembolism, and enteric fistulization. If a patient with surgical history presents with gastrointestinal bleeding, the veno-enteric fistula should be part of the differential diagnoses. In presence of a veno-enteric fistula, surgical treatment consists of aneurysmectomy, venorraphy, and intestinal resection.
