Enhancing Financial Inclusion Through Mobile Payment Technologies in Iraq: A Case Study of Iraqi Banks

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of mobile payment technologies on improving financial inclusion in Iraq, with a specific focus on the First Iraqi Bank and the Trade Bank of Iraq. The research utilized a quantitative and analytical approach to examine its hypotheses. This was done through a survey that consisted of two dimensions and 22 questions. The acquired data underwent multiple regression analysis. The findings demonstrated a statistically significant impact of variables such as service price, service quality, convenience of use, and service security on financial inclusion. The results emphasize that mobile payment systems has a vital role in supporting financial inclusion in Iraq and suggest that all Iraqi banks should use them on a larger scale. Furthermore, the issues of the acceptance of mobile money, the opportunity of replacing traditional financial services with mobile money, and the necessity of establishing regulatory frameworks for mobile money services in Iraq were identified as subjects that need to be explored in more depth.
