Empowering Education Research through Ethical and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Practices: A Critical Review of the Literature

Abstract

The revolution in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown its usefulness in being able to understand and analyze large volumes of data, comprehend patterns, and create models for complicated situations. This is extremely beneficial to scientific practice. Although we can appreciate the tremendous usefulness of AI, we must consider the tremendous importance of AI which deserves to be pondered: how can researchers use AI responsibly? This study focused on the peer-reviewed literature and major databases for conference papers, articles, and pertinent literature related to AI, Ethics, and Sustainability in Education. This review literature employs a unique blend of methods: comparative and exploratory synthesis, along with descriptive bibliometric, exploratory lexicographic, and document-based analyses. This particular study demonstrated the sustainable use of AI on Education. It stated that the integration of AI into educational practices must be governed by the principles of ethics and sustainability in order to guarantee that AI provides a positive and equitable contribution to the future of educational research. The rapidly growing body of literature provides an intellectual framework for the consideration of AI in the practice of Education for Sustainability.
