Diagnosis. Easily separated from the congeners in the area studied by the black scutellum with a thin yellow median strip (this character not found in the other Empidideicus species in the region). In Morocco (Map 1), this species seems to prefer forested environments, where it was mainly collected in cork-oak, pine, fir, and cedar forests under a humid to perhumid bioclimate in the Rif and Atlas Mountains. It was also reported from the cork-oak forest of Maâmora in the Atlantic Plain where a sub-humid climate prevails. Distribution. France, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia.
