Diagnosis. Easily separated from the congeners in the region studied by the yellow scutellum possessing a medial brown stripe (this character not found in the other species of Empidideicus in the region). In Morocco (Map 1), this species appears to prefer sandy dunes along Atlantic and Mediterranean coastal habitats, as well as inland areas such as matorral and mixed forests of cork-oak and pine trees under sub-humid to humid bioclimates in the Rif Mountains.
