Emerging Security Threat in the SDLC and Mitigations

Abstract

Software systems are the foundation of almost every element of modern civilization, they have a significant impact on how we work, communicate and interact. The SDLC, or Software Development Life Cycle, is a systematic framework that developers use to guide the process of creating an application, starting from its inception and continuing until its completion. To ensure the protection of digital assets, it is essential to understand and manage the security risks that emerge as software development methods and technology advance quickly throughout the SDLC. This paper aims to analyze the emerging security threat in the SDLC and mitigations by exploring the various stages of the SDLC, identifying potential security threat that can arise at each stage and discuss effective security threat mitigation strategies that can reduce the threat.
