Efficiency Enhancement in Virtual Power Plant through an Improved Particle Swarm Algorithm for Optimal Power Generation Optimization

Abstract

Enhancing the grid's awareness and facilitating rapid adjustments in power generation are the primary goals of virtual power plant (VPP) technologies. The energy management system (EMS) in these setups is tasked with collecting essential data, addressing optimization challenges, and effectively communicating precise energy allocations to distributed energy resources (DERs). This paper employs an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm to efficiently distribute power generation tasks among DERs, minimizing energy production costs in a VPP that includes wind turbines (WT), photovoltaic (PV) plants, and a microturbine (MT). Comparative analysis with other algorithms validates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
