Double Burden of Malnutrition and Validity of Overweight/Obesity Indicators Among Students in the Democratic Republic of Congo: A Cross Sectional Study From the University of Kinshasa

Abstract

Overweight/obesity and underweight coexist among candidates particularly in women for student recruitment, at the University of Kinshasa, which illustrate the double burden of malnutrition in the academic young population. Using bioimpedance to assess body composition, BMI correlates better with FM in women; the usual thresholds defining overweight and obesity were not valid in men.
