This study explores the drivers and challenges of digital transformation in Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Egypt, aiming to provide insights and best practices for decision-makers to enhance the success of digital initiatives in this sector. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, the online survey gathered responses from 187 participants to collect comprehensive data. Key internal drivers identified include data-driven decision-making (24%), operational efficiency (23%), and employee empowerment (14%). A significant external driver is the competitive environment, noted by 31% of respondents. Major challenges include limited financial resources (52%), inadequate technology infrastructure (43%), and resistance to change (35%). This research proposes a framework for digital transformation in NGOs, featuring five main pillars and 12 sub-pillars. Additionally, a Digital Readiness Score (DRS) tool has been introduced to assess the readiness of NGOs for digital initiatives, offering a structured approach to navigate the transformation process effectively.
