The fourth industrial revolution is sweeping fast in the world and Automation is a key area of this revolution. This study aims to implement Internet of Things (IoT) technology, combined with clean, renewable energy in our day-to-day life, with focus on home safety and security and great reduction in energy consumption, which will in-turn help in optimizing our finances. A prototype home automation was created by implementing various sensors and motors to automate basic features found in our homes, such as the gate, doors, windows etc. The performance evaluation of the developed prototype shows that the sensors used yielded accuracy level of approximately 97%, with ±3% error tolerance. Additionally, the system integration into the IoT ecosystem was fast and seamless, with a 6 second average real-time monitoring and data logging time.
