Design of Ultra-Wide Band Antenna for the Diagnosis of Colon Cancer

Abstract

In medical field, electronics play a major role in diagnosing diseases. RFID is used to detect diseases, simply by exposing the affected region to the microwave influenced region. Cancer cells are identified to resonate at particular frequencies, which helps the medical society to diagnose malignant tissues. A low profile microstrip antenna operating in UWB band is designed for colon cancer detection. The antenna comprises of fr4 substrate with $16 \times 20 \times 1.67$ mm 3 dimension. An average gain of 3.5 dB is obtained with 97% efficiency. The proposed antenna is a suitable solution for colon cancer detection as It does not require any physical intervention into the human body.
