Design and Optimization of Reliable Off-Grid Solar PV–Battery Mini-Grids for Trading Centers in Uganda

Abstract

This dataset presents a reliability-constrained simulation framework for a solar photovoltaic (PV)–battery mini-grid designed for a representative off-grid trading center in Uganda. The dataset contains hourly load profiles, solar resource data, battery parameters, scenario definitions, state-of-charge (SOC) simulation outputs, reliability assessment results, and model assumptions used in the study. Simulations were performed using an hourly deterministic energy balance approach under worst-month operating conditions to evaluate system adequacy, reliability, and prioritized-load preservation. The dataset supports reproducibility of PV sizing, battery performance, loss-of-load probability (LOLP), and unmet energy fraction (UEF) analyses for decentralized rural electrification and sustainable energy planning applications.
