This dataset contains the raw data collected to investigate the effects of the endemic bamboo Valiha diffusa on vegetation diversity, functional traits, and soil properties in a Malagasy dry forest. Data were collected in 30 inventory plots, including 15 plots dominated by Valiha diffusa and 15 control plots without bamboo. Vegetation data were collected across different vegetation layers, including the overstory, intermediate, and understory layers. The dataset also includes measurements of functional traits and soil physicochemical and microbiological properties. These data were used to assess differences in vegetation composition, functional characteristics, and soil properties between forest plots with and without Valiha diffusa.
