Cultivating Eco-Innovative Entrepreneurs Through TVET

Abstract

The transition to sustainable and green economies requires education systems that develop environmentally responsible and entrepreneurial graduates. This chapter examines the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in cultivating eco-innovative entrepreneurs capable of creating sustainable enterprises. Drawing on relevant literature, the chapter explores how green skills, sustainability competencies, and entrepreneurship education can be integrated into vocational training to support enterprise development and environmental stewardship. It discusses the contribution of TVET to eco-innovation across sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and green manufacturing. The chapter also identifies key challenges, including limited access to green technologies, inadequate policy support, funding constraints, and weak sustainability awareness. A conceptual framework is proposed to demonstrate how TVET can promote green entrepreneurship through skills development, industry collaboration, innovation support, and enabling policy environments.
