This paper deals with the design of a controller for a wireless power transfer (WPT) charger for a battery electric vehicle. The WPT charger is powered by a photovoltaic renewable energy source. Firstly, an overall view of the system studied is given. Secondly, a simplified circuit of a WPT is illustrated with the key components of the system, focusing on the phase shifter for the high-frequency voltage inverter and the compensation topologies. Thirdly, the WPT low-cost controller is designed to control the battery current in <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{CC} - \text{CV}$</tex> charging mode. This is achieved through wireless communication for battery current control and indirect control on the primary side by estimating the battery current. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed controller meets the study objective.
