Compact rectifier array with extended RF input power range at 3.5 GHz

Abstract

In this article, a compact array rectifier with an extended radio frequency (RF) input power range is studied and designed to operate at 3.5 GHz. It consists of two sub-rectifiers, A and B, directly connected without additional components, and operating at low and high input power levels, respectively. The maximum achieved power conversion efficiencies (PCE) are 54% at 16 dBm and 40% at 0 dBm. The proposed rectifier is capable of harvesting up to 30% of the RF power and converting it into direct current (DC) power over a wide input power range of 32 dB (from -12 to 20 dBm). This makes it an efficient and suitable candidate for wireless power transmission (WPT) and radio frequency energy harvesting (RFEH) applications.
