Trash management in urban areas has significant challenges that directly impact environmental sustainability, safety, and cleanliness. Thus, waste and filth buildup are a persistent threat to urban areas. Conventional waste management systems frequently find it difficult to keep up with the rising number of people and garbage production. This paper proposes a unique way to develop a data-driven, systematic urban trash management solution using the Internet of Things (IoT). Trash cans outfitted with smart sensors allow for the collection and analysis of real-time information on location and fill levels. Subsequently, this data may be utilized to guarantee effective garbage disposal, reduce needless pick-ups, and optimize collection routes. Furthermore, appropriate waste management techniques and increased public participation may be fostered through the integration of smart signs and citizen interaction platforms. The systematic application of IoT has great promise for improving urban surroundings. Reduced environmental impact and operating expenses are achieved through optimised garbage collection. Proactive management is made possible by real-time data, which helps to avoid overflowing bins and related hygienic problems. In addition, citizen involvement promotes a feeling of civic duty, which results in healthier and cleaner cities.
