Characterization of Climatic Variables Inside a Smart Mixed Solar Dryer

Abstract

Drying fruits and vegetables is one of the oldest methods of preserving agricultural products, because the quality of dried produce is significantly improved. Drying agricultural produce is primarily aimed at reducing the moisture content to a level that can be stored safely for a prolonged period. In developing countries, sun-drying is a popular, effective and economical method used for drying and preserving agricultural produce, food and many other products. The solar drying of agricultural food products is a cost-effective application. However, industrial drying consumes large amounts of traditional fuels to provide hot air. Thus, the aim of this chapter is to study the variation of different climatic variables inside a new model of mixed solar distiller equipped with an embedded system to intelligently control the ventilation inside the system.
