Challenges of Protected Area Management and Conservation Strategies in Ethiopia: A Review Paper

Abstract

The history of Protected Areas (PAs) in the country goes back to Zere Yaecob in the 15th century. The modern way of biodiversity conservation was started during the reign of Menelik II and the official establishment of National Parks was started in the 1960's. Since then PAs are facing different challenges. The scientific literature contains numerous descriptions of the challenges of protected area management that causes a devastating impact on wildlife.
