Challenges and opportunities in the prevention of travel-related STIs

Abstract

The link between travel and acquisition of STIs is well documented. Global travel has increased to unprecedented levels, and situational disinhibition during travel contributes to less safe sexual practice, in turn heightening STI risk. Individualised advice should be provided to travellers across the travel continuum to mitigate the risk of acquisition and further spread of STIs.
