Building Supply Chain Resilience: The case of Tangier Med Port –Morocco

Abstract

Supply chain resilience has emerged as a critical determinant of economic stability in an era characterized by global disruptions, including pandemics and geopolitical conflicts. This study aims to examine the factors that contribute to supply chain resilience within the context of Tangier Med Port in Morocco, focusing on how infrastructure, technology, and management practices enhance resilience capabilities. A mixedmethods case study approach was employed, combining semistructured interviews with key port stakeholders and extensive document analysis. The results reveal that diversification of cargo and clients, adoption of innovative port technologies, strategic international partnerships, and robust redundancy systems are critical enablers of resilience. These findings highlight how Tangier Med Port maintained operational continuity despite global disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic and regional geopolitical tensions. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of supply chain resilience in maritime contexts. It offers practical recommendations for port authorities and supply chain stakeholders to strengthen resilience frameworks in similar environments.
