A water supply system can be conceptualized as having three fundamental parts: the source of supply, the treatment or processing of the water, and the delivery of the water to customers. Conduits or aqueducts carry the water under pressure or in open channels from the source to the treatment facility. Water that has undergone treatment either enters the distribution system directly or travels there via supply conduits.
