Coconut dehusking machines require robust frames to ensure safe and efficient operation, yet few studies have analyzed their structural integrity using modal analysis. This study aims to evaluate the frame of a locally produced coconut dehusking machine to enhance its safety and durability. The methodology section outlines the three-step Modal analysis process, including the pre-processing, processing, and post-processing phases, demonstrating the thoroughness of our approach. Free-free modal analysis was conducted via finite element analysis (FEA) in Inventor Professional 2023, focusing on a frame made of mild steel (AISI 1018) and polyester (PET) fiber. The analysis revealed the first eight natural frequencies ranging from 64.48 Hz to 315.91 Hz, with mode shapes showing larger deformations at lower frequencies (i.e., 64.48 Hz) and more localized patterns at higher frequencies (i.e., 315.91 Hz). These findings highlight resonance risks, enabling design adjustments to avoid operational frequencies that could lead to failure. This work provides the first application of free-free modal analysis to this specific machine design, contributing to safer and more efficient coconut processing.
