Abstract

Running Title: Aphthous Ulcers Abstract: Background: Aphthous ulcers (AUS) are common, painful, recurrent oral lesions that can significantly impact the quality of life. While they are often benign and self-limiting in healthy individuals, their presence in immuneaphthous compromised patients presents unique challenges in diagnosis, management, and treatment. Objective: To provide clinically oriented overview of pathophysiology, clinical aspects, causes, diagnosis, and treatment of aphthous ulcers in the light of scientific knowledge. Methods: This review explores the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and therapeutic approaches for ulcers in immunocompromised individuals. Conclusion: Aphthous ulcers in immunocompromised individuals require a multidisciplinary approach for effective diagnosis and management. While topical and systemic therapies provide symptom relief, addressing the underlying immune dysfunction is crucial. Keywords: Aphthous Ulcers, recurrent oral lesions, immunocompromised.
