In this thesis, a microstrip patch antenna fed by a waveguide using an end-wall iris through ground plane has been modelled. The iris feed technique was proposed to overcome the narrow bandwidth problem of microstrip patch antenna. The iris is sized so that it is resonant and subse-quently the antenna operates under the fusion of two modes relating to the iris and the patch, resulting in a wideband radiation characteristic with dual resonance. A comparison with some state-of-the-art works proposing various X-band bandwidth enhancement techniques shows that the proposed prototype is more compact than several designs and it still presents the prototype with the widest bandwidth and the simplest design fabrication. With regard to the electromagnetic modelling, this work is oriented towards the use of the hy-brid MOM-GEC method in order to be able to perform a rigorous electromagnetic. It has been found that MOM-GEC model is more efficient in terms of memory requirements and approxi-mately four times faster than HFSS simulator software. The proposed hybrid method is extended to become a multi-scale method. It is combined with the Floquet theory to analyze a periodic iris-fed microstrip patch antenna array and in particular to calculate the mutual coupling be-tween the different array's elements. As a result, a thorough electromagnetic calculation is per-formed with the least amount of execution time and memory usage. Hence the interest of this approach in the analysis of antenna arrays with a large number of elements.
