An Optimal Scheduling Process for Electric Vehicle Charging using a PSO based Approach

Abstract

Electric vehicles global market has recently seen a quantum leap in sales, which promotes greenhouse gas emissions limitation. Accordingly, the resulting increase in energy demand should be managed with adequate charging infrastructures along with renewable energy sources integration. This paper addresses the problem of charging station management while using solar energy to achieve optimal costs. In this context, we suggest to build an electric vehicle (EV) charging schedule adapted to drivers’ preferences based on reservations and energy production. Using a PSO-based approach, the optimal charging schedule can be developed while minimizing overall charging infrastructure costs.
