article
Currently, remote sensing (RS), geographical information system (GIS) and direct current (DC) resistivity techniques are widely utilized to characterize the hydrogeological setting in wadi systems. In this research, an integrated approach combining geological investigation, quantitative morphometric analysis, and DC resistivity data is employed to evaluate the hydrogeological conditions at Wadi Ramliya in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, as a case study. The analysis of the drainage network in the area represents a hydrographic basin. Additionally, the stratigraphic investigation suggests the likelihood of groundwater aquifers associated with sedimentary deposits and sedimentological conditions. Based on the geological and morphometric analysis of drainage basins, DC resistivity measurements, including 1D and 2D geoelectrical surveys, are conducted to determine the distribution of subsurface layers and delineate groundwater aquifers in the present hydrogeological basin in the study area. Furthermore, this study exemplifies the benefits of employing an integrated approach that incorporates geological, morphometric, and resistivity data in groundwater exploration. Overall, it demonstrates the significance of utilizing multiple data sources to evaluate water resources in the wadi system and assess planned developments in the area.
