An Enhanced Analyzing Technique to Evaluate the Impact of FEC Methods on Video Streaming Over WLAN

Abstract

The effectiveness of movie streaming over wireless networks has grown significantly in the previous several decades due to the substantially increased use of handheld and cellular devices. Video transmission across the non-linear 2.4 GHz wireless channels is unpredictable due to general channel noise and/or interference from other wireless devices' frequency bands. Jitter in streaming technologies can be caused by losses resulting from network problems. The primary cause of packet loss is unmitigated loss of data at the decoder. Since MPEG uses a lot of bandwidth, sending videos compressed using the Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG) compression technique across wireless networks presents additional difficulties. This study uses the IEEE 802.11 Diversified Collaboration Function (DCF) to offer an approach to analyze the reliability of MPEG-4 movie transmission with correction of forward errors (FEC) in mobile local area networks. Additionally, the wireless network's packet loss pattern, including diffused and packet loss, should be considered. According to the simulation results, the suggested approach outperforms the current one in terms of throughput and packet loss.
