AMRx Hub: A Curated Web Platform for Discovery of Antimicrobial Resistance Resources AMRx Hub is an open, web-based platform designed to improve the discovery, organization, and accessibility of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) resources. It provides a structured and searchable environment for researchers, students, clinicians, microbiologists, bioinformaticians, public-health professionals, and other AMR stakeholders to discover relevant databases, computational tools, educational materials, publications, surveillance resources, and other scientific resources from a single platform. Project Overview Antimicrobial resistance is a complex One Health challenge involving human health, animal health, food systems, agriculture, and the environment. Although numerous AMR databases, analytical tools, surveillance systems, publications, and educational resources are available, these resources are distributed across many independent platforms, making them difficult to discover and compare. AMRx Hub addresses this resource-discovery and organization gap by providing a centralized, curated catalogue of AMR-related resources. Resources are organized using a structured taxonomy and standardized metadata framework to make them easier to search, filter, understand, and access. The platform is designed not to replace the original scientific resources it indexes, but to serve as a discovery and navigation layer connecting users with relevant external resources. Key Features Curated AMR resource catalogue covering databases, tools, publications, educational materials, surveillance resources, and related resources. Structured resource metadata including resource title, description, category, subcategory, organism, AMR relevance, One Health sector, intended users, access information, developer/organization, URL, repository information, publications, tags, and verification information where available. AMRx Hub Taxonomy, providing a standardized framework for organizing AMR resources according to resource type, scientific function, organism, sector, and other relevant dimensions. Search and filtering functionality to help users identify resources according to their specific research or educational needs. Organism-specific organization, including resources associated with important AMR organisms and pathogens. One Health-oriented classification, allowing resources to be considered across human, animal, environmental, food, agricultural, and cross-sector contexts. Resource curation and verification processes intended to improve the quality, relevance, and accessibility of listed resources. Public accessibility, allowing users to discover resources without requiring access to multiple independent catalogues. Documentation and methodological framework describing the taxonomy, metadata standards, curation principles, contribution process, and technical architecture. Open-source development, with the project designed to support transparency, reproducibility, community contribution, and continued development. Scientific and Community Value AMRx Hub aims to reduce the time and effort required to locate appropriate AMR resources. By combining structured metadata, taxonomy-based classification, curation, and search functionality, the platform can help users move more efficiently from identifying a research or educational need to locating an appropriate database, computational tool, publication, or other resource. The project also provides a framework for organizing the rapidly expanding ecosystem of AMR resources in a consistent manner. Its One Health-oriented structure is intended to support discovery across disciplinary and sectoral boundaries. The platform can accommodate resources spanning: Human Health → Animal Health → Environmental Health → Food/Agriculture → Cross-sector One Health and resource classes such as: Databases → Computational Tools → Educational Resources → Publications → Surveillance Resources → Other AMR Resources The taxonomy and metadata framework are designed to evolve as the AMR resource ecosystem develops. Technical Implementation AMRx Hub is developed as a web-based application using a Django/Python backend, with a relational database architecture and conventional web technologies for the user interface. The platform is designed around structured resource records, metadata-driven classification, search and filtering, and maintainable content-management workflows. The project is being developed with open-source principles and version-controlled development practices, with plans for continued technical and scientific maintenance. Sustainability AMRx Hub is intended to be maintained as a long-term scientific resource rather than as a one-time project. The project incorporates documentation, versioning, resource verification, taxonomy maintenance, and governance principles to support continued development and curation. The long-term objective is to develop AMRx Hub into a reliable community-oriented infrastructure for discovering AMR resources and supporting researchers and other stakeholders working across the AMR and One Health landscape. Current Development Project version: 0.9.5 The project is currently focused on strengthening its resource taxonomy, metadata standards, curation methodology, search and discovery functionality, documentation, and overall scientific and technical infrastructure. Open Science and Accessibility AMRx Hub is intended to provide an openly accessible discovery platform and to make its underlying development and organizational principles transparent. The project supports open-source development and aims to facilitate reproducibility, collaboration, and future community contributions. Long-Term Vision The long-term vision of AMRx Hub is to become a comprehensive and continuously maintained discovery infrastructure for antimicrobial resistance resources, connecting researchers and other stakeholders with the computational tools, databases, publications, educational materials, surveillance resources, and other resources needed to study and address AMR. Rather than functioning simply as a directory of links, AMRx Hub aims to provide a structured, curated, searchable, and scientifically meaningful knowledge layer for the AMR resource ecosystem.
