Abstract

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV), integrated with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), positions transportation toward the future with connectivity, safety, and efficiency in their core. IoV operates in a V2X communication constellation allowing exchange of data in real time between vehicles, infrastructure, and clouds for reduction of congestion and accidents thereby enabling immediate countermeasures. Meanwhile, this technology allows localized decision-making through intelligent sensors and algorithms thus boosting the awareness and receptiveness of the two operators. The only joint paradigm is hugely transformative, permitting an evolutionary succession of isolated safety enhancements to sort into an integrated, interactive ecosystem capable of predicting and relieving traffic hazards before they happen. However, realizing this interplay requires consideration for challenges pertaining to network latency, cybersecurity, standardization, and regulatory establishment.
