Aerogels have emerged as promising materials for various environmental protection applications. Their outstanding physicochemical properties make them ideal candidates for tasks ranging from pollutant remediation to thermal insulation. In recent years, significant advances have been made in harnessing aerogels for environmental protection purposes. This paper reviews the latest developments in aerogel-based technologies, focusing on their utilization in mitigating air and water pollution, as well as in managing hazardous waste materials. Furthermore, novel strategies for enhancing the performance and durability of aerogel-based environmental solutions are discussed.
