The growing energy demand from utility customers places significant strain on the power grid, resulting in challenges such as load limitations, power quality issues, and widespread outages. Global energy consumption is expected to increase by more than 50% by 2050, primarily due to the rise in electrification in developing economies. This paper examines the literature related to advanced energy management and optimization in microgrid systems. The research methodology involved a targeted search in the Scopus database, concentrating on literature published between 2022 and 2023 on microgrid integration in power transmission lines. The final analysis utilized VOSviewer to map keyword relationships and trends, identifying key research themes based on clustering keywords with at least four occurrences. The observations indicated that, the power plants, transmission and distribution networks are ageing while maximum demand is on the rise, Microgrid integration to utility grid is a solution to the rising demand of electrical power which puts stress on the existing infrastructure.
