Multi-level inverters facilitate the generation of high-quality output voltage; however, these converters present several limitations regarding the large number of electronic components used. This study presents an improved version of the nineteen-level single-phase inverter topology, called H-SPUC, based on the Packed-U-Cell (PUC) topology. The proposed topology produces the desired output voltage using fewer electronic components. A PWM technique is designed to control the suggested inverter, associated with the present redundant states, which can ensure an automatic voltage regulation of the capacitor voltages without employing sensors or PI regulators. To highlight the benefits of the proposed topology, its performance was compared with that of the most common multilevel inverter topologies. The performance of the proposed inverter was evaluated using simulations conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The dynamic response of the inverter was verified in different situations, and the results achieved present a reduced rate of harmonic distortion (THD).
