This article presents an in-depth study of wind turbine control strategies that combine Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques using speed control to optimize energy production. Extracting maximum power output from wind turbines requires efficient methods to adapt to varying wind conditions. First, the article reviews conventional MPPT methods, highlighting their advantages but also their limitations when dealing with dynamic wind profiles. Then, an integrated approach is introduced, where speed control is combined with MPPT, with the aim of improving response times and energy capture efficiency. Simulation results show that adding speed control significantly improves wind turbine performance. This results in increased power output through faster response time, dropping from 65 seconds to just 2 seconds. This integrated MPPT-speed control approach thus demonstrates its interest in optimizing power extraction from wind turbines, particularly in variable wind conditions.
