A Compact Design of Phased Array Antenna with Folded Dipole Radiators for THz Communications and 6G Networks

Abstract

This paper explores the characteristics of an innovative linear phased array designed to provide high gain and steerable radiation patterns, tailored of upcoming 6G networks. The array features a schematic with eight folded dipole elements arranged in a 1×8 linear format. These compact folded dipole resonators utilize microstrip-line feeds, optimizing their design. The proposed linear phased array achieves an impedance bandwidth of 1.85 to over 2.15 THz at −10 dB, delivering radiation gains exceeding 10 dBi across various frequencies and angles within its operational bandwidth. This performance meets the antenna design requirements for 6G networks and THz communications.
